Fall and Winter always have the good coffee fads. Let’s make sure the next season’s specials are just as tasty!
Valentine’s Day marks the turn in the seasons from all things cozy to more bright and fun flavors that come with the changing seasons….although here in the Midwest we still have like four more months of winter storms.
If you are just finding our little corner of the web…. welcome, and personally we hate weeding through long poetry writing and stylized pictures to find half decent recipes to use as inspiration for our specials we use in our coffee shop. Sooooooo…….Here it’s just a simple list consisting of the specials’ names and the amount of syrups or sauces to use.
Note: We don’t offer 20 different specials all at once. You can pick a daily coffee or soda special and rotate through or, for us, we pick two of each and just leave them as our specials the whole month.
Basic Notes
The typical reminder that size matters…
All of these recipes are for 12 oz hot or 16 oz iced drinks. Adjust according to the sizes you have. Recipes are guidelines not laws.
Caramel= the syrup caramel sauce= the thick and sweet ice cream topping-like product
1 pump of syrup= 0.25 oz 1 pump sauce= 0.5 oz
We’ve found most coffee recipes work well with our chai concentrate or as a hot cocoa as well!
Have your Specials? What now?
I use the free version of Canva and just use a free Instagram template and add a themed background and then type out the names of the specials and a brief description to entice customers.

This image took me literally 5 minutes to make and I use the same template, edit a copy of the image, replace the image and edit the text for the next specials. This saves time and makes it so all of your specials images look similar on your socials!

Refreshers
We are kind of drowning lately in aaalllll of the other small beverage businesses around us using Lotus energy. In fact, it was named as one of Fox’s Top Trends of 2023.
So we still offer it but I think having something else to stand apart might help us. Our supplier has a new natural refresher concentrate that they began carrying that we ordered samples of so we can play around with. I’ll do a review once we are done. I think we’ll offer them either flat or sparkling and start with the following three options.
- Strawberry Acai- 4 oz strawberry acai refresher concentrate, 4 oz water (flat or sparkling), 1 tbsp freeze dried strawberries
- Dragon Fruit Elderberry- 4 oz flavored concentrate, 4 oz water of choice, 1 tbsp freeze dried elderberries
- Watermelon Cucumber Mint- 4 oz flavored concentrate, 4 oz water of choice, 1 “pinch” freeze dried mint
These were all really basic recipes that can easily be made during a rush. However, you can make it fun too!
Some ways to jazz it up!!!!
- Blended Frappes or Hot Chocolate- pretty much a blended and icey chocolate or frappe with whipped topping. You could line the cup in dark mocha or colored white mocha for pizzazz
- Cool toppings- add all the whipped topping, sprinkles, chocolate shavings, dust with spices like cinnamon or nutmeg, drizzle sauces, add a cookie on top. You name it! And take pictures to post on social media to draw in the crowds
- Cool names- you don’t have to use the names above. Make a theme and come up with something silly or classic or even naughty!
- Stand Apart- If you notice a ton of shops in your area doing the same things, switch it up to stand out! Too many peppermint mochas or pumpkin spice lattes around? Really push forward with another flavor that is more unique and market the heck out of it on your socials!
